Watch Your Step(s)

"Decision making is easy when your values are clear." – Roy Disney

The average person makes an incredible 35,000 decisions every single day. From the meaningful to the mundane. From what socks to wear to what career to pursue. We're so accustomed to making an enormous number of decisions that it becomes second nature, like muscle memory. Decisions are made at such a frequent pace, we rarely consider what informs those decisions.

The question then becomes not what choice we will make, but what decides what choice we will make?

Sometimes, we make choices based on what makes us happy, or what feels right to us. We follow our hearts. Or maybe it is what makes the most logical sense. Maybe we are trying to make someone  else happy.

While that all sounds reasonable, that cannot be our controlling factor. Our hearts can lead us astray; what makes sense isn't always what's best, and happiness is fickle.

There is only one whom we can count on to help make wise decisions.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Our best option is to seek the Lord daily by asking Him to give us the wisdom to choose what He knows is best. Trust Him and let Him order your steps...all of them.
